“In 1925, Otto Neurath began developing the Vienna Method of Pictorial Statistics, renamed in 1934 as the International System of Typographic Picture Education—a picture dictionary of standardized, quantity-based pictograms designed to translate complex socio-political and economic relationships into a clear and accessible visual language for museum display. Isotype was central to Neurath’s political vision, statistically situating its position within international political and economic developments and providing a basis for the reshaping of everyday life.

The historical display model, originally conceived by Josef Frank, is being reconstructed in recycled plastic as a modular, standardized, yet hand-crafted structure, functioning as a platform for contemporary Viennese, migrant, and international artistic positions. Research-based artworks reframe moments from Neurath’s engagement with Isotype, providing contemporary visual analyses of social and economic conditions through the lenses of architecture, art history, labor, and environmental studies. These transformations extend into advocacy for artists’ social rights, support for war-displaced artists in Vienna, and climate justice activism.”
